The smoked hot red pepper de la Vera (from the La Vera region) is an indispensable spice in many of the most important dishes of Spanish gastronomy. This is the perfect spice for sausages, dishes and tapas. It's known all over the world for its intense taste due to the grinded red peppers of the Jaranda and Bola varieties. The smoky aroma that characterises it is due to the process of smoking the peppers with oak. The pepper has a protected designation of origin ("DOP").
